First Leg of the Journey to TX "Hill Country"

April 15th we headed out of New Orleans via I-10 heading for TX "Hill Country," towing our Harley, with Jim and Debbie following in their car.

Lunch was in Lafayette, LA at the Blue Dog Cafe.  Not only is it a wonderful restaurant, but it houses many of George Rodrique's "Blue Dog" paintings. Bill and I have stopped there many times over the years and always enjoyed it, so we wanted to share the experience with Jim and Debbie.  Not only was the food great but Debbie and I had a great time browsing the paintings and taking photos.

Next stop was the TX/DOT office by the Sabine River (just before getting into the city of Orange, TX), for travel brochures.  When we stopped, we had no idea that  the Blue Elbow Swamp, that functions as a wildlife management area, was out back  What a beautiful place!

Spent the night in Houston and went to dinner at Pappasito's Cantina.  What a fun place!  The food was great and our waiter was a hoot! He kept us laughing the whole evening.  It was definitely a fun, laid-back time!

Left Houston the next morning to complete the last leg of the journey to TX "Hill Country."

Made it into San Antonio around noon - called our friend Bruce who owns Eisenhauer Road Flea Market in San Antonio.  Bill, Bruce and I went to lunch while Jim and Debbie went to meet Jim's brother.  Then Bill and I went back to the Flea Market with Bruce, where I did some shopping before Bill and I headed out to Kerrville to meet up with the "Motley Crew" for a week of riding in the TX "Hill Country."

We made it into Kerrville that afternoon and got settled into our cabin, shared with us by Mike and Chris.  Afterwards, we sat around the fire pit and reminisced about our adventures together over the years, and made plans for the following week.
